Simon also has extensive experience acting for a number
of New Zealand's leading construction companies. As a
litigation partner specialising in construction, Simon's
expertise includes drafting and negotiating all forms of
construction contracts and acting on the resolution of
construction disputes in court, arbitration and mediation.

- Advised Transpower New Zealand Limited including preparation of joint venture documentation and construction contracts for the laying of electricity cables from Penrose to Albany in Auckland.
- Advised Department of Corrections including drafting of tender documentation, earthworks contracts and construction contracts in respect of the building of 5 new prisons throughout New Zealand.
- Advised TrustPower Limited on various construction contracts including establishment of windfarms.
- Advised Mainzeal Property and Construction Limited on:

- proposed BOT for Auckland Hospital carpark
- building of carparks at Auckland Hospital.

- alliance for design and construction of engineering plant for reduction in sulphur levels in petrol and diesel, including drafting and negotiating various contracts
- Marsden Point $45 million refit, including drafting and negotiating specialist contracts.

- a claim arising out of runway extensions to Auckland International Airport.
- Advised and defended claim against Carlton Cranes arising out of a crane collapse causing damage to a building, and resulting consequential loss.
- Advised Paykel Limited in respect of a claim against a contractor for installation of pumps on Clyde Dam.
- Advised Arrow International Limited generally since 1996 on the negotiating of various construction contracts, and various clauses relating to construction contracts and dispute resolution.
- Advised and instituted arbitration proceedings for Canam Construction Limited against Housing New Zealand on refurbishment of State houses.
- Advised Downer Construction Limited on tender to Auckland City for refurbishment of Town Hall.
- Advised and drafted general and special conditions of contract for Auckland City for use in medium size projects.
- Advised and reviewed maintenance contracts for Otis Elevator.
- Advised Multiplex Constructions (NZ) Limited on construction contracts including buildings and railway infrastructure.
- Advised Transfield Services (New Zealand) Limited on its various infrastructure contracts and dispute with Works Infrastructure.
